Hawaii just started processing for the applications of dispensaries for its medical marijuana program. In accordance with the state’s regulations for the program, they are enforcing a $5000 dispensary license cost.
For the start of the program, Hawaii will only authorize eight dispensaries to operate. The counties to be awarded authorizations will be Honolulu County for three granted applications, Maui County and Hawaii County will each get two granted applications and the last application will be awarded to Kauai County.
Dispensary applications will also be made available online. The state will accept applications just until January 29, 2016 and results for accepted applications will be made public on April 15, 2016.
According to Keith Ridley, Department of Health Care Assurance Chief, urges applicants to carefully review the entirety of the instructions in the application and that following the application instructions is a must for it follows the statute and administrative regulations.
Dispensary owners, with granted application, may operate two dispensing and production locations.
